This classic board follows the lines of the Duke Kahanamoku and Hot Curl boards, but is modified in length and weight.
These boards pay tribute to the Hawaiian Heritage and early wave riders of Waikiki as well to Duke Kahanamoku who was a leader and model of character to many and was the spirit of Aloha. The board has full 50/50 rails and a tapered rail line from the front section back to the tail block. The board is 7 feet 8 inches long with a width of 21 1/2 inches at its widest point. Designed in Red Cedar and White Pine the board has mahogany and cork rails. The weight is about 24 pounds which is stable and easy to paddle, The board can be built with or without a keel upon request. The woods are selected for matching color and contrast and in some cases are Match Booked . Sometimes spalted wood is used for its color. Wood color also varies depending on the minerals in the soil. The board has one layer of 6 ounce glass and is double lapped on the rails. The board is made of wood and is designed to last for many years with reasonable care.
